The World Protected

Creating key partnerships and alliances — inside and outside government — to generate understanding of the problems and how to counter them, is critical to success. Solutions should not impose unrealistic constraints on normal daily activity. Perseus strive to ensure that the security, commercial and environmental balance is maintained. Security must be realistic and must seek to be affordable.

Our Projects and Clients

Perseus understands the work required to achieve success. Its personnel have been pivotal in designing efficient, effective and pragmatic security solutions, regularly in partnership with government and corporate bodies.

G8 World Summit, Edinburgh 2005

Case Study One

A command and control computer generated image (CGI) model was required by a national police force overseas to support a high profile inter–governmental conference. The site contained a number of multi–story (15+) office and hotel sites, subterranean retail areas and mass transit sites and a complex traffic system. The Perseus solution specified a site scan to produce a highly accurate data cloud. Using this information a faithful photorealistic 3D CGI model of critical threat areas is produced. At the same time technical analysis of the cloud using specialist threat software to replicate considered attack scenarios identified site vulnerabilities. The anlaysis is complemented by the production of specialist software, designed to meet the requirements of operational functionality. Armed with this model security planners are able to match their resources to tasks and produce a physical protection plan combining temporary and permanent systems integrated into the local operating environment. Using the CGI model contingency plans were created refined and briefed to security organisations from senior commanders down to uniformed security ground staff. The model identified the most efficient CCTV matrix solution and the supporting software allowed realtime CCTV feed into the CGI model.

Case Study Two

A major overseas financial institution required to produce a stand–off security barrier to protect its site and its personnel. Located in an architecturally sensitive area of the city and with a large transient daytime population an environmentally sympathetic solution was required. A site laser survey scan produced a data cloud which could be interrogated by a spectrum of threat software. Concurrently applying a human dynamics analysis template identified how the local population interacted on the model allowing accurate environmental activity to be assessed and planned for. The analysis stage identified the areas critical vulnerable areas and the environmental patterns which needed to be accommodated within the solution. A solution was proposed using a range of sympathetic construction materials as well as the arrangement of appropriate natural obstacles and subtle changes to the areas road scheme. The solution was tested as a computer model against recognised threats before the solution was recommended.
